Warm your winter evening with an hour of beautiful string quartet music performed by the Ajax Quartet in the Basalt Regional Library Community Room on Monday, February 4, 2019 @ 5:30 pm. Founded in 2016 at the University of Colorado, the Ajax Quartet is an emerging string quartet comprised of violinists Tom Yaron and Renee Hemsing Patten, violist Mario Rivera, and cellist Eric Haugen. Its members have performed in various constellations at such institutions as the Aspen Music Festival and School in the Center for Advanced Quartet Studies, Pacific Music Festival, Moritzburg Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, Santa Fe Pro Musica, Dallas Chamber Symphony, University of Michigan, Schwob School of Music, and the Juilliard School. Only months after its founding in Fall of 2016, Ajax was selected by the Grammy award-winning Takacs Quartet for the prestigious graduate string quartet residency at the University of Colorado. Ajax shares a relationship with the Aspen Music Festival and School, where they serve as Musical Connections Resident Artists. As the graduate quartet in residence at the University of Colorado, the group enjoys weekly coaching and guidance from the Takacs Quartet and carries out their own coaching and playing responsibilities throughout the College of Music.
