Designed exclusively for the daring and curious, Banned Book Club is a safe and inclusive space for readers to explore literature that has challenged norms, defied censorship, and sparked important conversations throughout history. This book club is intergenerational so adults and high schoolers (Grade 9+) are invited to join. Each month we will read and discuss a different banned book, while enjoying snacks and beverages.
This month we will be reading Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. The coming-of-age story focuses on its titular protagonist Simon Spier, a closeted, gay, high school-aged boy who is forced to come out after a blackmailer discovers Simon's e-mails written to another closeted classmate with whom he has fallen in love.
